IP Banned But...

I get an email saying that a person was banned from FTP for too many false logins but then I go to Admin Home > System Settings > Plugins > Security Configuration > TCAdmin Security and boom there is no IPs banned? Anyhelp would be great!

Those are just the IP's that you manually ban.

Dam so there is no way to unban and ip if it gets autobanned?

As ive not come across a Banned ip before ive never had to deal with it but if you login to your dedicated server via RDC, and go to Start > Programs > Admin Tools > IIS Manager you can navigate to the ftp setup and if you right mouse click properties then choose "Directory Structure" it can list denied IPs.

The list should show autobanned IPs. Are you sure that you don't have your settings to a 15 minute ban? Or something similar?

Hmmm...I guess I only have mine set for temp bans of 60 minutes. I have not seen the temp bans listed, and have not done any perm bans, so I did not think the auto perm bans were listed.

I have had a IP from Texas...running script from a furniture company for 1/2 the day yesterday...I called them but got now awnser

 

and another from California ...if this is of interest...maybe ECF could set something up

 

I daily check both of our master ftp logins to see whats going on and ftp logs

There is really no use since you can change a IP faster than your underwear. At best blocking a IP of someone who wants to get in is just a inconvenience to them. Most attempts are automated scripts from compromised boxes anyway.

We have had some of our customers get banned since the new updates. I am not sure how exactly they have managed to do it. Anyone else?

let me bump this, is there a way to have a option in the persons account that we could uncheck if they are banned?

No. You need to remove their IP from the banned IP list. An option such as this would not work as many people have dynamic IPs that change all the time.

Could you make a "live" list that would display the banned ip list? I would rather do it through tcadmin, then rdp to the server and do it this way. I might be missing something in tcadmin, if I am, please let me know.

temp banns are never shown, only way to have all bans show is change settings so bans are not temp. But then you must always remove bans from accidents, I prefer just telling clients they can get in by waiting 15mins.

well, if I can go into the security monitor, and delete the ip addresses, and have them log right in, I think it would be fairly easy to display in the banned ip box.
