because that's what SickPuppy does... Just like his server that runs 500 slots without any problems.. yeah. sure.

:)

Games like ASR and rFactor will run 500 active slots on a dual quad core system with 8Gb or more of RAM. Those games use little CPU or RAM. Bandwidth it can be a hog with. rFactor is a drive space hog. My install on my system is over 50GB because of all the mods it has. 500 AA slots no, it all depends on the game.

And the fix for the High CPU on CF2 was an easy one, we stopped the game from running. No more CPU hog! :p :twisted:

Done, we have reduced the CPU load and we have the command line syntax

So when do you plan on adding it to your order list on your site? Since your the only person "with the command line" you could be making a killing. Not to count hacking the cpu issue, your missing out man.........

Dude if you cannot run 500 slots on a dual quad core system you need to get out of the business. That is probably why you cannot make a profit at a $1.00 a slot.

CPU usage and RAM are not the limiting factors it is bandwidth. The server could run more than 500 slots but we would get hit with bandwidth overage fees. You have to be smart about which games you load on the server. Like Motor said with AA you would be lucky to get 200 slots to run, just because of the RAM requirements.

What I stated is we found the command line commands, we have not gotten them to work yet, but we have been able to reduce the CPU load on a full server to 15% which is still way too high

When Far Cry 1 was released, it also had a high CPU usage issue. That problem was solved by a player not Ubi. If you are waiting on Ubi to patch it good luck with that.

We will come up with a fix if someone does not beat us to it. When we fix it, we will post the solution. We are not like some who would keep it a secrete. We have been helped by too many TCAdmin forum members to try to screw people over for $

Just because there are servers in the lobby, does not mean it can be automatted and run by TCAdmin. TCAdmin only needs the software to run as a text box without exe a server launcher and then clicking start.

Until command line paramters come out that allow a server to run as a dedicated server, then it can not be run by TCAdmin.

I've seen some servers, i have the FC2 server files with me, just need the config for TCA

Joshdch,

The issue right now is no command line commands and high CPU load. The server is set to read a default server.cfg that it writes in the my documents folder. This is the TCAdmin config we have created but it has limited functionality.

yep command line works but my cpu is at 20% idle, lol what a joke.

Also I cannot specify multihome IP. Im limited to using the master IP so I can only run 1 instance of the server per physical box.

sad sad sad

I can't help you with the CPU issue but you can run more than one instance per box. Simply check the box marked "use default ip" in the game setup. This will use the default ip and a different port for each instance.

FarCry 2 Dedicated Server Commandline

For those who haven't managed to catch the very sparse support from Ubisoft, here is how to run a dedicated server for Far Cry 2 without the graphical interface :

Quote:

How to launch a dedicated server through command line:

1. Open the FC2 server launcher

2. Modify the settings as desired through the UI

3. Once done, select "File, Save config as", and you will get an xml file

4. Now you can start the server using that config file by executing:

FC2ServerLauncher.exe -start=[configfile]

where [configfile] is the absolute path to where the file is saved in step #3.

Example: D:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Far Cry 2\bin>FC2ServerLauncher.exe -start=d:\config.xml

There are no way to decrease CPU usage as it's generated by dunia.dll :)

   if (Game.InitEngine(Process.GetCurrentProcess().MainModule.BaseAddress, form, form.EmptyControl, commandLine, new Game.ConsoleCallback(Instance.ConsoleCallback), new Game.MessageCallback(Instance.MessageCallback)))
   {
while (!Instance.IsDisposed && Game.Running)
{
    lock (m_gameCallbacks)
    {
	foreach (GameCallback callback in m_gameCallbacks)
	{
	    callback.Run();
	}
	m_gameCallbacks.Clear();
    }
    Game.TickDuniaEngine();
}
Game.ShutdownEngine();
   }
   else
   {
MessageBox.Show("An error occurs during the initialisation of Dunia", "Far Cry\x00ae 2 Server Launcher", MessageBoxButtons.OK, MessageBoxIcon.Hand);
   }

im also having a firewall issue. Ive opened these UDP ports for incoming:

3076, 3074, 3076, 3077, 3078, 3100, 443, 9000, 9001, 9002, 9003, 9004, 46678, 19353, 21340

however when I lauch the server I get no response from the master, but if I disable my firewall its ok.

here my fw log:

you can see the source port is the same (im allowing it) and destination keeps changing (ougoing is not blocked at all)
