jocker
I am using the tcadmin panel (v1.0.3220.20501) that is offered me by my server owner. If a game server stops responding to requests, but the process is still running, the panel reports that the server is running and does not take any action. I'd like to know if tcadmin can detect when the game server dies by querying the server port and restarting it automatically. If it can, how to enable this functionality? I run CSS and TF2 servers. Thanks
ECF
Yes it can. TCAdmin queries HL and HL2 based games and can be set to restart them automatically if the query fails. The settings are located in System Settings>Plugin Manager>Game Monitor. Click the edit button next to it and you can enable it there.
jocker
thank you, i do not have access to such settings. I'll ask the server owner to set it for me. Thanks again
jocker
The server owner said he won't enable this function because if the server crashes at startup for any initialization errors, this function will keep restarting the game service forever... bringing the physical server to its knees. Is he correct or is this function smart enough to avoid this?
studeggle
It will keep restarting, there is no way for it to know if the server crashed or can't start. But all they have to do is set a limit. I know for us, we limit it too three restarts in a row, at which point server is shut down and our support staff notified of the problem.
jocker
we limit it too three restarts in a row thanks for the reply. This is what he sees in "Admin Home > System Settings > Plugins > GameMonitor Configuration": there's no option such as the one you are using that limits the number of restarts. What are we missing? studeggle
Yea the next box down "When the Game Server Doesn't Respond x Times in a Row" enter the number of times desired, then place a check in "stop service"
jocker
thank you for your help. He enabled the 2 monitoring functions, but now all the servers gets restarted without reasons at random times Even servers that never crashed before and are always available now get restarted continuously
studeggle
Wrong query set, or firewall blocking the query
jocker
Unfortunately there's no firewall that interferes and the server type seems correctly configured in the panel. I forgot to mention in my previous message that only TF2 servers keep restarting while the CSS ones behave correctly.
