Dedicated server hosting - What to do?

Hello

We were thinking to enlarge our busines providing dedicated server for game services to our customers. I know how to manage my server where i run gameservers and voiceservers but i don't know how to provide this service to customers. To make it simple let's do an example: one customer rent dedicated server. This is what i've to do.

1) Set up server with hardware, OS, IIS

2) Buy TCAdmin license for customer (if i've enterprice license i skip this)

3) Install TCAdmin in dedicated server

4) Import all cfg and game files

Server is now ready to run all services. What about customer control?

A) Give TCAdmin full control (yes)

B) Give Windows full control (?)

I don't know if i've to give Windows full control. I think he don't need it. Am i wrong? Now let's see support. What am I expected to do?

Last thing about network. When i host my customer dedicated server it has to be in my server list of my TCAdmin or apart?

Thank you for your time :)

Hello,

If you can get a data center license from TCAdmin it gives you the ability to offer it to dedicated server customers more easily. If you are installing it on a customers dedicated server you want to keep it separate to your game panel which you use for your own game servers.

Normally setting it up on their dedicated server they would access it via IP or url depending how they want to on the dedicated server but the best way is to get a data center license and do it that way. As its a lot quicker and easier to provide to dedicated server customers.

Good luck renting dedicated servers without giving them full windows access, if you don't issue them an administrator account they are likely to fell you are hiding something and it is not actually a dedicated server. Dedicated servers come with full server access.

Support is upto you, if they want your support in the OS they'll give you login credentials. You'll need to have a proper plan in place to handle hardware failure and OS failure. You'll also need to know your stuff as much of the time the customer will say "I didn't do anything" trying to lay the blame on you and your company and not meeting your uptime. Not saying all will, just many ;)

They can be wrapped up in your tcadmin and use the dedicated client feature, or seporate. That is upto you there are pros and cons to each way of doing it.
