If you have a PocketPC or a blackberry you can do this, for free......

Before I got my blackberry I had the Sprint Mogul (HTC PPC-6800), was great would get 1-4mbit depending on location :-)

Sorry IPhone, your network can't handle it, I am not bashing, I am being serious, it is enabled in your phone, but AT&T disabled it. Says so on Apple's website (not available in the united states)

Yes, But your still working from a phone. There's only so much you can do with it. Defiantly not a replacement for a workstation/notebook etc.

Internet Tethering

Surf the web from practically anywhere. Now you can share the 3G connection on your iPhone with your Mac notebook or PC laptop. Tethering is not currently offered in the U.S. and some other countries. See your carrier for availability.

I took out a "mobile broadband" subscription sometime ago. Really useful when travelling and not that expensive. However, since I recently got a phone plan which includes it's own "unlimited" (If you call 1GB unlimited) plan, i'll probably tether that. Sure the contract prohibits tethering, but they can't really tell. Before getting the mobile broadband subscription, I used another providers "£1 for 1 day" deal which was in theory limited to 40MB/day, even when I pushed 400MB in a day as a test they didn't complain or take any action!

I have the Verizon internet card for my laptop when I travel. I get great download speeds and good connectivity but it does cost $60.07/month

$60? Ouch. I pay £15 a month which includes the cost of the 7.2mbit dongle.
