CobbyJUK
Hey Guys, do any of you use any scheduled backup software for game server backups to an ftp server? iv found a few the best i have found so far is http://www.ascomp.de/index.php?php=prog&prog=backupmaker i can do partial backups on one day or a full backup. like i can do a partial backup 6 days a week and a full backup on the 7th day, which is pretty good does anyone else use any other backup software? also is there any mysql backup tools? to keep my tcadmin backed up? dimitrifrom31
syncback is free and you can backup on ftp as for mysql just schedule a dump everyday. You can then use syncbak or whatever to upload the dump on another machine or on another drive.
CobbyJUK
i tried syncback, the only problem i found is that it doesnt allow zip files over 2gb as most game files is more then that say COD 4 which is 4gb its not much good. any others anyone can surgest and how do you do a schedule mysql dump? got a wiki page? proclan
I'm not sure to many gsp's back up clients files as this can get to be expensive once you have multiple dedicated servers running. The main backup would be your tcadmin database which is what you would not want to lose.

SickPuppy
Just backup the TCAdmin MySql Database If you lose a hard drive it is easier to replace it and just reinstall the game servers.
ECF
The Access or MYSql database is essential to the operation of TCAdmin. If you do not have a backup of your database then you are f*&^ed. You would not be able to restore your panel at all. Basically you would have to start from scratch. **So EVERYONE should be making backups of their TCAdmin database whether it is the Access database or MYSql database type.** Backup of config files can help in speeding up the process of restoring client's servers if you do have a hardware failure. Yeah, we are using a .bat file to back it up remotely. It would be neat for V2 to have an option in the tcadmin to backup the file to a ftp server
dimitrifrom31
I use syncbak to backup MysQL dumps but also Game servers and GameInstalls. The remote backup is not insane at all as syncback only synchronizes new/modified files so the first backup takes some time then the next ones are very fast. Got it scheduled daily. As for the 2GB limit well its a problem only for ur gameinstalls zip. Personaly I have excluded those files from the backup process, only sync the non zipped gameinstalls so basically I got a file server with zipped and non zipped and a backup server with only non zipped gameinstalls. From times to times I manually upload the zips.
ECF
You can even backup the C:\Program Files\MYSql\x.x folder which contains all the database info as well.
GS-Liam
We use http://www.backup4all.com/en/backup4all-professional.html Remote ftp backs up and zips the files for you We backup all clients game servers, all game server install files, all mysql dbs, We have a big storage server so its not costly for us ;-)

Idk if thats a risk for the db itself or if it can corrupt the backup tho.
ECF
You should shut down the MYSql service before backing up is all.
trancemode
anyone tried using carbonite backup? http://www.carbonite.com/
dimitrifrom31
You should shut down the MYSql service before backing up is all. would not recommend that aswell, some ppl may have other bases than the TCA one and can lead to issues or inconvenience (if u got ur billing panel base for exemple). Create a .bat to make a dump and run it as scheduled task then backup remotely or use winzip to send it by ftp/email.

CobbyJUK
i find livedrive great, im on the backup/breifcase one, you can get like a 15 day trial compleatly free, livedrive uses ftp http://www.livedrive.com/features/packages thats the packages, my only problem is it doesnt accept paypal, only credit card which is a bit anoying as i will be getting paid into paypal from customers. but i rearly recomend livedrive, seems rearly safe, and i zip my files up anyway. all unlimited bandwidth and hard drive, as is made for backups, i dont see any problems with it.
