1. Your files need to be archived by utilizing a particular file archiving program such as winzip or winrar, rar/zip -- In your particular game's configuration, will be defined the appropriate name this file should be stored as in your defined GameFiles directory. Place the the file hierarchy in your gamefiles zip/rar should start from the root directory and include everything. The TCA.MAPS and TCA.MODS is for game specific map/mod addons such as sourcemod, mani, or specific mappacks or maps.

2. It is possible to have ventrilo within TCAdmin.

3. the FTP server is included as part of the TCAdmin, you do not need to setup any thirdparty software to utilize this feature. Assure you 'enable FTP access' checked in the game configuration.

Hope that helps! Also, the search feature of the forums works great! You could have had the answers to your questions as soon as you posted them had you of just searched instead :) Food for thought next time you have an issue!

Eh? #2's response is incorrect. You can run Ventrilo via TCAdmin.

However if you are not an authorized hosting provider you can only run one 8 slot instance on your server, and it is best just to run it on your server's desktop.

The game install files need to be .zip or .rar and need to be outside the folders for the games. You can see at the bottom of the attachment that each game has a .rar file that is in the the gamefiles folder. Each game will also have a folder and inside that folder there will be three additional folders.

Look at the attachments and you will see that there are on files in the AA folder. There is a AA3.rar in the gamefiles folder

ok so

1. i would .rar cstrike

then what about the other files em: bin, platform

do i .rar them also or put them into the cstrike fodler

2. i would put them in C:\Game Installs, NOT in CSS correct?

and i shall .rar platform and bin hl2 folders also and do step 2 again?

ok heres what i did

i used win.rar

the css.rar

in CSS.rar\CSS\ i have

file list:

i left these files outside is that fine?

This part is incorrect. TCA will look for .rar or .zip files. If they do not exist it will use the uncompressed files from gameinstalls/css.

It's just more efficient to compress the files.

You do not need to rar or zip every game directory. As long as the server files reside in their proper directory eg. CS 1.6 would have its server files located in C:\Gameinstalls\CS

You can compress the files into rar or zip if you would liek to but it is not needed. The way you have them setup now should be fine. If your game servers are not starting then you have an issue with your game configuration files or the server files themselves.

You can run them uncompresses but it will increase the install times and resources necessary for the transfer. The best thing to do is rar or zip the files and store them in the gamefiles folder. This is especially true if you have one file server that is taking care of several different remotes and Master server

i can can agree with this as this is how we use it, uncompressed.

After reading this i'm assumming the game server is located remotely ?

For other new people reading this and using the servers locally, my question is.

If running both tcadmin and the game servers on the same machine, there really isn't any need in compressing the files for transfer is there ?

in the long run the master server files can be updated at anytime (without having to recompress the whole game server) so if new servers are having to be created they would pull from the new update vers installing the server and having to run the update again.

If the servers are remote, then i completely see why for the compression, and they would just not have the little extra feature for the quick update on the master servers.

We use one file server to service 15 remote servers. Even if you only have 1 remote set it up this way now so you will not have to go back and change it as you grow.
