adeol
Hey guys, I don't post here often but I require some help. This morning, one of my staff members stumbled on the domain http://maxventrilo.com. After whoising the domain, we found it was owned by Defcon Servers. The design, code, and content was stolen from MaxFrag's website. Should I attempt to make contact with Scott Richards (owner of the domain) or should I simply contact a lawyer, which might be expensive and/or unnecessary? Anthony, I would get a hold of the domain owner and start there. That is blatant copyright infringement and should be dealt with civilly, at least to try first. Only if they ignore emails and refuse to take down the site/content then you should get a lawyer involved. Saddening that yet again someone is out there stealing content like that! Thanks, Jeremiah
ECF
I would contact Rich about it directly first if you can. It seems unlike him or his company to blatantly copy a website like that.

Yeah, they usually only copy bits and pieces. Movin' on up.

dimitrifrom31
always contact first, maybe defcon has been abused by a designer they hired.
SickPuppy
Hey guys, After whoising the domain, we found it was owned by Defcon Servers. The design, code, and content was stolen from MaxFrag's website. That is a pretty blatant rip off. All they need to do now is change the domain name to Max-Frag.com, but I digress. VicToMeyeZR
^ lmao... Sorry that funny. Another funny thing is, this is like the 3 report of them ripping from others, but yet it "doesn't seem like him"? weird huh?
VicToMeyeZR
He is obviously using it for SEO reasons, because the order links all go to planetventrilo. Still very screwed up for a supposedly "respected" provider. I wonder how many of his other domains he is doing that with? 1. Armacloseassault.com 2. Cagemail.com 3. Chthonicsyndicate.com 4. Jesse
They ripped their gameserver game images at one point from a hidden folder on the dchservers site, they didn't respond to my removal emails so I eventually brought the issue here lol.

Jesse
Jesse are you referring to the round game icons. The game icons that look just like ones I am using on my website. No, they were square and had a curvy gloss over the game image.
SickPuppy
No, they were square and had a curvy gloss over the game image. I am not accusing Rich of coping my game icons, in fact it was his website that gave me the idea to switch from square to round they just look better on a white background. I did however purchase those icons.
adeol
I received an email from Richard Scott claiming he had not been informed anything relating to this. He also asked me to forward over proof that the content on maxventrilo.com was mine. Whether he is telling the truth or not, I'm glad they took the site down and I hope they refrain from this type of behavior in the future.
