ECF
Well if TP adopts SL's business plan and mentality then it may not be a bad thing. However, mergers are hard to sort through during the initial cut over pahse, so I expect some problems with new orders. Any servers currently up and running should be unaffected. adamnp
I can't comment to much due to confidentiality agreements, but, the majority of the 'merger' is going to be TP into Softlayer, with SL management at the majority of the drivers seat. At first I was worried, after multiple conversations with George all my worries have been put to rest. I look forward to the changes multiple 100's of millions can bring to a company as successful and well established and well managed as SL.

studeggle
so call and talk to George. I'm sure he'll set your mind at ease. Looking forward to Dallas Colo with SL. Trouble is there are already statments that are viewed as contradictory to early statments. This has let loose the alegations o half truths and out right lies. So trust in there statments is already down. Fast talking around this problem is often worse then just saying sorry there was a misunderstanding hope you hang around as we feel you'll be happy with the end results. Which of course they always feel you don't merger to screw your entire customer base on purpose it just sometimes happens.

jbiloh
Why you would virtually throw away ThePlanet's brand is confusing to me. All mergers are messy, and the team involved at TP/Softlayer have a history of VERY messy mergers.

All mergers are messy, and the team involved at TP/Softlayer have a history of VERY messy mergers. you mean the TP/ev1 teams? I personally was completely against the 'merger' 2 weeks ago, like I said earlier though, after my discussions with George, my mind is completely at ease and I look forward to whats coming. All the issues I had, all the questions I had, were all answered to my satisfaction by him. I highly suggest talking to him if you do business with them and have any doubts/critiques/questions. leetservers
Yes, TP put my mind at ease too when that horror show merge went on with Ev1. Go with your first thoughts Adam, no good can come from this. They are ALREADY on damage control. =Bobby

I'm in your camp. @Adam, we haven't done business with Softlayer/TP since we pulled out right as things went off the cliff during the EV1 disaster.
