Battlefield Vietnam error message

I have imported the config file for Battlefield Vietnam from http://clientforums.tcadmin.com/showthread.php?t=6329 when I attempt to create a server I get an error message and I'm unsure what it means or how to fix it.

 

Couldn't start the server! Using the default Remote Console username and password is disallowed for an Internet server to prevent unauthorised access. Change the username/password on the Admin dialog page and try again.

 

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Ok, I know this is an issue with Battlefield Vietnam Server Manager 2.0. I still don't know how to configure it for automation when someone purchases an account. Any ideas?

look for these lines in the SM config

 

manager.consoleUsername "admin"

manager.enableRemoteAdmin 1

manager.consolePassword "%rconpassword%"

Where can I find the SM config? I've looked everywhere and I don't see a config anywhere. Also, I used remote desktop to change the user/pass and set a map and the server just repeatedly crashes. I've included a part of the log starting with the user/pass change. Is there any reason we have to use this Server Manager 2.0 or can it be setup just to run the dedicated server stock? Thanks for your assistance thus far HIS-MOTHER but this just doesn't seem to want to run.

You should login to remote desktop and run the SM. Configure all the options via the SM and then start the server via the SM.

 

This should create a config file which you can then use to edit.

Thanks ECF I'll try it. Any ideas why it keeps crashing though?

Disregard my post about the crashes, it appears I was using an older beta version of Server Manager. After updating to the final version things appear stable.

When I try to boot with the Server Manager, it pops up a screen then quickly closes it, with no error logs.

BVServerManager.log says server started, but it doesn't.

When trying to run the server without Server Manager, and just bfvietnam_w32ded everything works if executed in the GUI. If TCAdmin starts it, the time and ticket options are set to 1, which I can't find where it's pulling those values from.

 

Using this version it works:

However I need a way to auto start the server now, -start in the command line doesn't seem to do it.

 

Remote users can start the server, but then it sets it to 1 minute rounds, which is stored no where.

You need to run the BFV Manager on your server's desktop once and fill in all the required info which will create a serversettings.con file in the BFV directory.

 

Then you can start it with TCA.

Thanks, when I do that, the time limit is set to 1 minute, and in HLSW you can see it stop and start itself every minute.

This happens if launched from TCAdmin, but not when simply Double Clicking on the server executable.

When launching the bfvietnam_w32ded.exe file via tcadmin is when it sets it to 1 minute.

The hostname, slots and maps properly work though.

 

It seems to be an issue when running bfvietnam_w32ded.exe or the Black Ops Bag Server Manager as a service.(which boots bfvietnam_w32ded.exe)

Does anyone else have this issue?

 

Edit:

Issue was with it reading the config file from a different location. Not sure how to force it to use a certain location (Like a user directory)
