[REQUEST] Shutdown server if no one is on

Hi,

 

I'm after a script that will shut down any HL & HL2 engine servers if no one has been connected to the servers for like 5 hours? is this possible?

 

if it isn't is there any other way of getting this done?

Anything possible with coding but pull out your wallet. Also realize each game you want it to check is a query so such a script would burn considerable resources itslef and might well result in sinificantly higher overhead.

well I'd really only want it on CSS for testing then if happy with the results we would move it across to over games and platforms

I don't see why you would want to do this, unless you are overselling your dedicated server.

 

A new community would want new people to see their server; having it shut down wouldn't help.

I think your customers won't be happy finding their servers offline

And starting them again and again after 5 hours.

 

Empty servers usually don't take nothing but ram, if you are limited by ram install at least 2-4gb more, that won't cost you much but it will greatly help.

I think there may be some validity to this, especially when you give out test servers to clients and they don't use it. They can't argue because it is a trial, and it makes sense to save the resources. Other than this, it seems ridiculous.

You probably already have some public test servers online, they don't need a rcon to tryout a server, that's just buying time and playing 4 free

We don't overload of servers currently load across all servers is around 25%.

 

This was for a project which is only for LAN events NOT online customers.

 

Since writing this post and speaking to 98% of our customers around 63% agreed this would be a great add-on.

This would be something that we could most likely add into Version 2. Once the public beta for V2 is out in June there will be a forum where clients can request add-ons like this.
