RAM Issue

One of our Windows 2003 X64 servers will only show 6 out of the 8 gigs of RAM installed.

 

CPUID shows slot 0=4 Gigs and slot 1=4 Gigs however Windows will only show 6 gigs available.

 

Any ideas before I send new RAM to the Data Center

Have you checked if they went bad?

 

Also what is the max gb you have on that server?

or let me say how much gb are per stick?

Check the BIOS. If the BIOS see's the RAM then reinstall the OS.

I am going to have the KVMoIP put on the server to check to BIOS.

 

We are scheduled to replace the OS next month, switching to a 32 Bit OS.

 

Each RAM stick is 4 Gigs so I don't think it is bad RAM. The server has been on line for about a year and the loss of the 2 Gigs of RAM is recent development.

The BIOS sees all 8 gigs of RAM so it has to be an OS issue
