PCGamersportal
I see an engine rewrite in the future.
Dennis
Well, I actually see this as a good thing. Besides, Mojang has worked with Microsoft for the past 2 years. I highly doubt that Microsoft buying Mojang will lead to an engine rewrite. Most of the original Mojang team is still there. As far as I know, only the founders and co-founders left due to the project getting too big. Microsoft know they'll shoot themselves in the foot by suggesting an engine rewrite. Bukkit will die completely (more than it already has), and both Mojang and Microsoft are well aware that Bukkit is a big part of Minecraft. That would be a waste of 2.5 billion dollars. Raizio
I suspect that MS will leave the game itself mainly intact and perhaps even untouched. They undoubtedly want to build an entire franchise around it. Toys and the likes.
