Team Fortress 2 config for TcAdmin

Here is a working configuration file for Team Fortress 2 for TcAdmin. It has been tested several time, on several different servers.

Please note the default server.cfg is still mostly blank as I'm not sure which source commands are good for TF2 and which aren't.

I also only did, 2 RCON, and 2 command line changers.

Warning:

Switch game compatibility in my config from “Source” too “HalfLife2” for some reason “Source” results in some false negative checks on whether the server is running.

 

Also this game currently realy seems to likes to use CPU 0 , you will need to make use of TcAdmins affinity setting to get it to balance better on multy CPU or multy core machines. I only have one machine where it is balancing on its own. (Hopefully valve fixes this soon)

I noticed that a lot of GSP's were doing that. I initially didn't set a slot release for that purpose. I remembered way back when

 

We still did well with it yesterday never-the-less!

It also seems to be pulling more resources then other Source games. These are the reasons I'm not a big fan of preselling. Add to that how am I supposed to propely support client questions about the game when I just installed it for the first time myself.

A full 24 slot server running at 66 tic uses 35%-40% of a single core on a 2.4 Ghz Kentsfield Quad Core.

Thank you for the config however what do you mean by change compatibility to "HalfLife2"?

 

All I see for compatibility is a number "37"

When you load it, go to supported games, click on it, then change the compatibility. I'm not sure on the number equivalent for Halflife2.

I'm having a problem. the program excutable srcds.exe is not there when I installed TF2. Now the server wont start. >.<

 

how do I get srcds.exe

Re-run the hldsupdate again.

Redownload the game.

 

HldsUpdateTool.exe -command update -game tf -dir .

 

It may crash, run it again from within the same dir immediately, and it will attempt again and finish the files.

where should that be exactly? Should it go "C:/GameInstalls/TF" ?

I did -command update -game tf -dir C:/GameInstalls/TF and it worked perfectly. Thank you.

The -dir . makes it go into your 'current active directory' or the directory your in at the time you ran the command, anything else will point to whatever you put.

I modified a clients server to 32 and it crashed 4 hrs later. Don't think this will be very stable.

Steam forums are full of posts saying servers are crashing when set to 32 players.

 

Personally I think 24 players is more than enough for the map sizes.

Ours has been running fine...It crashed because steam updated, but has been fine since going on 5.5 hours now.

 

Whereas 24 is fine, 32 is fine for some maps aswell...Not all, but some :}

We have 2 32 man servers that have been full nonstop since I made them, not crashing at all.

 

Both servers are static maps, maybe its a specific map that might be crashing your server? or the map rotation in general?

The reports I heard about the crashing is durig map changes. So maybe static maps do not crash?

I have a problem, I run it and tell it to interact with desktop. I watch it and it appears to be running, but TCADMIN says it is unresponsive. I am using the config located in this thread and am also using newly downloaded files.

What ports is it using? I can only see 27015...

 

I can connect to the game but its not sending any data back to the server status script.

Sounds like a blocked port issue. Here is our config that we currently have in the demo panel. I know it works as we have one runnig right now in the demo panel with it.
