Check you config files. Someone posted a COD4 config file with cod2 master servers in it.

Make sure you have this in your server.cfg file.

// Master servers

set sv_master1 "cod4master.activision.com"

set sv_master2 "cod4authorize.activision.com"

set sv_master3 "cod4master.infinityward.com"

set sv_master3 "cod4update.activision.com"

set sv_master4 "master.gamespy.com:28960"

set sv_master5 "master0.gamespy.com"

set sv_master6 "master1.gamespy.com"

set sv_gamespy "1"

There's a bizzare situation when a COD4 Server is updated to the 1.3 Patch.

If the Server was showing in the Browser before, then more often than not, after the patch update, it disappears.

The solution is to stop the Server for 30 mins, then start it up again, the Server then shows up. We've done this on lots of COD4 Servers, and it's solved the issue every time.

Apparantly, the 1.3 Servers user different masters, and the 1.0-1.2 masters seems to hold on to Servers which have been patched. Closing the Server for 30 mins forces the 1.0-1.2 masters to drop the servers from the old list, and then the new masters pick them up, and hey presto, they then display in the browser :)

If people didnt see it on stats.callofduty.com its:

If your server isn't listed restart it

If your server is red you need to not set the protocol in your config files

If your server is blue you need to stop your server for at least 30 minutes and then restart

So, if we see it on the site, we're okay, even if we can't see it in the browser? I've tried shutting it down for 30 minutes and then bringing it back online to no avail :(.

Yeah me too, tried it a few times. It shows on stats.callofduty.com as black text, meaning it should be fine. Although I cannot get it to list in the in game browser for the life of me, so far.

Then I read, which I don't know if it's rumors or not that if your server name is more then 22 chars big it sometimes doesn't show, unless you or the player looking for a server hits refresh a bunch of times.

Which in most cases when I go play, I hit it once.

Haven't tested this theory yet, I am in the process now.

As well there is a 1.4 patch tonight, time to update again. :~

http://www.infinityward.com/modernwarfare/patch/

So do I just zip the .exe installer up and put it in the patches dir as say cod1.4.rar or do i need to ONLY put the updated files in?

Only putting the updated files in is how my 1.3 patch is, but a very nice guy gave me that zip, I don't know how to just extract the updated files, it wants to auto update the game on me.

any help would be greatly appreciated please, thank you :)

Thanks, I tried to make my own and am uploading it now.

Not sure if I did it right or not at all... I basically installed the patch on my computer, went through and copied the files with full path that were "modified" since the last patch... excuding files that will be modified by playing etc..

LOL we'll see how it compares to yours once it's d/led.. they do appear to be the same size though ;)

but thanks for the link!!!!!!!!

What worked for me and my clients, take the server off port 28960. My clan's server would get 2-3 guests a night. I changed the port to 28961 and has gotten 8-10 guests per night and I see it everytime in the in-game browser. If you go to my cod4 page and look at my client's servers IP : ports, all are off of 28960 and they have all said their server traffic has dramatically increased since I changed it.

Let me know if that works for you all too.
