CoD patches usually run on the dedicated server, have you tried it yet?

Yes, it won't wont patch.

It most likely needs to registry keys from the default install.

Install the game localy, then export your .reg file to the server and patch it.

 

And it is not COD5 it is COD World at War. 5 has not been released yet.

The patch installs without the game being installed in the registry.

Why does the PC version go from COD 2 to COD 4?

 

Also Punkbuster used to have is set as COD5 in the pbsetup but they changed it to Call of Duty World at War.

COD3 is console only. As a matter of fact they have always stated that odd numbers are for console and maybe PC where as even numbers are for PC and maybe console.

 

Just because they are talking about 6 doesn't mean that 5 is not coming. Hell I bet they already have plans on 7,8,9, and 10. LOL
