IGN's Scott Lowe and Levi Buchanan weigh on the recent market buzz. by Scott Lowe and Levi Buchanan May 5, 2009 - All eyes are on Apple as recent buzz suggests that the company could be eyeing two huge names in the gaming and microblogging industries. Rumors began to circulate this week when two reports suggested that the popular computer manufacturer could be looking to purchase Electronic Arts and Twitter, respectively. The Electronic Arts rumors stem from financial analyst Guy Adami, who during this week's "Fast Money" program on CNBC said that he had been hearing "chatter" about Apple "eyeing" Electronic Arts for a potential buyout. A similar rumor began to sink its teeth into the blogosphere when Valleywag posted a report suggesting that Apple was in talks to purchase Twitter, the popular microblogging site, for close to $700 million. The deal, Valleywag claims, was leaked by a source close to the matter and says that negotiations are well-underway.
