Thought I'd create this topic to see what all you business guys/girls are running for your Home PC(s). It can be for work, at home, play, have multiple PC's for both work and play etc etc.

Please link/thumbnail pics that way we can tell if you're telling the truth about those Core i7 Extremes, 2x GTX 295's bla bla. & Tell us what you use that PC for.

Have fun!

Now what do I do?

I'm a Computer Builder Enthusiast. I usually love to have the latest and greatest, but haven't had the chance to upgrade to the newer Core i7 systems. I'm waiting for the 2nd version of core i7's to release in 3-4 months and then depending on the price and performance of those I might wait for SandyBridge to release (6core bla bla) To me, upgrading to the core i7 right off the bat from my Q9450 just isn't worth it. Nothing I do would stress it enough anyways

I play games (mainly just TF2 because of my Gaming Community) and I do a lot Web Development. Other then that, I have a beastly PC that really isn't needed, but what's the hobby without all the $ involved :)

Spent $1000 on mine some 4-6months ago. Granted when I build a PC I upgrade right when something else comes out (as long as it's worth it) I really spent over $5,000 on my PC all together, but I just resell my parts when they are worth a dime or two

When I first built my Home PC. It was E6750, 2gigs ram, Radeon 3850 and a Raidmax Sagitta case, vista home premium 32bit. Since then I've just sold/traded and haven't really spent any money out of my pocket to obtain the new hardware. I won a 680i motherboard (was high end and newer at the time) from a UBI Knockout Tournament for a game I used to play. I sold the brand new 680i and the E6750 to a friend, and got myself the Q9450 the day of launch ( I still had the GA-p35-ds3L as a backup)

Since then, I've upgraded to a Radeon 4850 for good grades in college (love my parents sometimes :D), the Antec 1200 ( I got that for Christmas). Birthday money I used to buy 4gb of Crucial ballistix tracers, Then I sold my modded xbox 360 and the 32 inch TV during college (never had time to actually play the 360 nor watch TV) so I used that money to buy the new parts of the hard drives, the ram etc. Then I sold my old parts (GA-p35-ds3l, the 4850, older Antec 650 watt PSU the crucial ram) to my roomate in college, and used that money to upgrade to the 4870's and the EP45-UD3P and the Corsair 750watt TX + the monitor.

He built a nice system for 500$ and I upgraded my system to (at the time) 2400$ system for my same budget of under $1100 lol.

I was debating on getting a Nvidia 750i and 2x GTX 260 core 216's. But the mobo I got is far better then the 750i and the graphic cards are same performance as the 216's.

Took the ATI route and to be honest, it's really worked out for me.

I'm glad the Core i7 is working out for you. My friend had the core i7 from a Q9550 and sent the parts back. Said it was useless for what he did (which was just games and download)

Something about water and electricity mixed together makes me squirrely.... :)

If you do it correctly with the proper liquids, quality parts, and do your maintenance correctly you shouldn't have any problems. It's not really water as we know it; conductive. You would use some type of deionized water such as distilled water. If is far less conductive than tap water. Or you could use some type of anti-conductive coolant.

There are some perks and there are some flaws to liquid cooling. I ran liquid cooling for about a year without problems, pump died and pretty much threw the whole setup away. Because my PC will be on for months at a time, liquid cooling is not for me, although the low temps, low noise, and high overclocking abilities were all great.

Yeah well I agree but have you ever seen this?

Yup, the entire PC submerged in mineral oil. Mineral oil in NON conductive. :D

Did that at college, though, we did it for testing and fun only. I would never do that for some high end parts....ever

I would do that to what we used in the lab though, which was AMD 3700+ 1gig ram etc etc. It was quite fun though
