Rust Config

Razio, you are correct and it is Source, so +1 query port (HL 2 New). I haven't viewed the configs posted by kane above, but if the hostname does not show up, probably forgot to place it in quotations.

ie. -hostname "$[HostName]"

if the server.cfg is not being captured it is because the folder path was not indicated on the command line.

ie. -datadir "yourcfgdirectory/"

Used the above .xml

How are you guys installing this? Steamcmd?

I can do it via steamcmd manually but in my steam page when I set the appid as 258550 and the command lines as -beta experimental validate, it's not working.

Got it installed and moved. Go to run it even manually, just craps out immediately and crashes. Any advice?

This is the Rust Experimental Commandline, it requires DedicatedServer.exe from the "Release" folder, so if this is the version you are trying to run then double check that the path to the executable is correct, make sure you have the prerequisites installed as well.

We are having issues with the Rust Experimental as well.. When we freshly install the files and the service, the server loads fine, as soon as you get in the server it crashes and you can not connect to it anymore.

We used the command line that Garry is using:

RustDedicated.exe -batchmode +server.hostname "My Server Name" +server.port 28215 +server.identity "facepunchdev" +server.seed 6738

If anyone found a fix, would be amazing to share with us.

EDIT:

Just found there was an errors.html in the .exe folder:

--

AmplifyMotion] Initialization failed. This plugin requires support for Image Effects and Render Textures.

NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object

AmplifyMotionEffectBase.OnDisable ()

UnityEngine.Behaviour:set_enabled(Boolean)

AmplifyMotionEffectBase:OnEnable()

--

Any clue on how to fix this?

EDIT2: Seem like I made it work (no freaking clue how, just installed a new service and the server was up and running)

The required versions of the VC redistributable and Direct X, the installers that come with the server may need to be installed on your system, Razio made a post a while back about the MCrip everything VC installer and that app works great and will ensure you have all the versions of Visual C. From Direct X you can get an installer that will install all versions of DirectX past and present.

I would double check you have the required redistributables installed, if you have downloaded the dedicated server and have not yet installed the required redistributables the server will not function properly.

But what about Linux?
