compuwiz
My server crashes a bit, part of the time it restarts by itself like it is set to, and ablut 1/2 the time it will stay down until you manually restart it. It is set to check to see if it is up every 5 seconds.
ECF
Is it restarting and the game is not reachable (eg. bad startup?) Or is it creashing and showing "stopped" in the panel?
HIS-MOTHER
Also TCA after so many failed restart attempt keeps the server off to prevent it from doing damange to your box. I think you can alter these settings can't you Kevin?
compuwiz
It still shows running. It started doing this after working fine for a few weeks, nothing had been changed.
ECF
If it shows as running then TCAdmin has performed its function in resatrting the service. If the server itself doesn't start properly then there is nothing more we can do about it. You will need to troubleshoot why the server isn't starting properly on your end. compuwiz
I have figured out when it stays down. If it crashes due to a bad model, it crashes and a error message pops up, and hlds will stay open until you press ok. Serverdoc seems to have this issue fixed, and it closes it, TCAdmin aparently does not. Is there something to do to change this?
LFA
If you enable the game monitor and configure it to restart the game server it will restart it when this happens.
ECF
While enabling the game monitor will restart the server, you still have the same problem. If you have a bad model, or missing file, the server will not start period. So restarting it does nothing to solve the problem. You can also set the x number of restarts feature in TCAdmin to disable the service after so many restart attempts, so it won't simply sit in a restart loop. compuwiz
There is a mod on this game server that allows players to "create the map" in the game. This includes adding things with specified models, so it can run fine, crash, and restart and work fine. Is there a way to program TCAdmin to restart the service it does when you do a manual restart from the panel? When it crashes and stays down, it will start up again if you restart it from the web panel.
ECF
You can set it to restart the service or restart the service so many times before disabling it. Once it is disabled, the user can no longer start it via the panel, otherwise it would defeat the purpose of the disabled setting. If you want it to restart all the time, simply disable the disable after so many restarts feature. But then you risk the servers sitting in restart loops. compuwiz
Ok, so that is the problem. It counts the number of auto restarts since every manual restarts. Thank you.
ECF
Correct. If the server crashes and the service monitor or game server monitor picks up that it is either a. not running or b. is not responding to queries, then it will count that towards the x amount of crashes if you have the system set to disable a service after so many crashes. Normal restarts from the panel link will not be counted in this equation.
