  1. If you are going to rent a game, I would recommend picking up a copy and playing the game itself and mess around with running a server.
  2. ECF may not be too happy with that statement. They don't want suggestions of illegal activity associated with their forums or company.
  3. Wow, game compatibility is Call of Duty. Good to see them not messing with something that works unlike most of the new games.
  4. All you have to do is add -game fortressforever in the command line and make sure you have the server configs pointed to the correct folder. This really is an easy TCAdmin config to make.
  5. ECF, he is looking for Fortress Forever not TF2.
  6. For it to work, you need to set the query method and the query port. Other games that use the UT3 engine are America's Army 3.0, Rainbow Six Las Vegas and Medal of Honor Airborne.
  7. Is it just me or does the Windows Server 2003 exe not respond to most command line parameters?
  8. Also requires a Gamespy username and password to start up a server like MOH Airborne. Hope this is not to be expected of all UT3 based games. edited - here is another good one. The login username you use is the server's host name. Lovely.
  9. This is a beta demo guys, not the official game so don't panic if you can't get a dedicated server up. Personally I am going to wait until November 19 when the game is released.
  10. This section is for config files, not server files. Post it in the right section.
  11. I have a 20 slot running and there are 32 slot game servers out there.
  12. Spoke too soon. Server crashed 23 hrs later.
  13. I had uploaded a long time ago when the game was first released. After I patched and installed the server files, I just saw what files were altered and uploaded. It came out to something like 1.3 GB in a rar file. edited - I had put up a server on my master server for myself and some friends to play last night and we filled it up. It has stayed full since then, roughly about 20 hrs so far so pretty stable thus far. A full 12 man TDM server is using up 40% of a 3 Ghz Xeon (net burst architecture) core and 150 MB of RAM. Also it is possible to run this game higher than the 12 man limit.
  14. Maybe some people from UBI transferred to EA.
  15. The only way this could work in the current form, is to not give a client access to their config file and have them modify changes via the rcon which unfortunately will reset when the server is reset. You could technically run multiple games on the same server by having them call different ini files via the command line and just change the ports. On a side note, does anyone know of a UT3 based game that does have a functional multiplayer? R6LV is horrible and now add MOH Airborne to the collection.
  16. Until you can figure away around the config files being stored in the c:\My Documents\EA\ folder I don't see the server files as much use. You can put a config file argument in the command line and I tried to specify a location for the config file but it fails. Another annoying feature is you have to have an EA account user and pass specified in the config like R6LV.
  17. This is an easy mod to add and would make good practice in creating config files. If you always depend on other people's configs you will never learn how to build one yourself. If you still can't do it after trying I will give you mine.
  18. The 32 man server stability has dramatically increased since it started.
  19. I modified a clients server to 32 and it crashed 4 hrs later. Don't think this will be very stable.
  20. When I first started, the config file issue was my biggest hangup with TCAdmin. 2 months later I find creating config files is not hard to do it Also ECF is right, it is best to do your own. I find stuff I don't like in the stock configs or the configs that people post.
  21. A full 24 slot server running at 66 tic uses 35%-40% of a single core on a 2.4 Ghz Kentsfield Quad Core.
  22. Almost every GSP was preselling this game as a 32 slot game and it maxes out at 24. LMAO!
  23. My TCAdmin config was fine, Microsoft DEP was shutting the program down as malicious code. When I turned off DEP the server starts up fine.
  24. I figured it out, Microsoft Data Execution Prevention was blocking the program on the other servers. Apparently it is not enabled on the master server.
