Too many possible scenarios there like:

 

- do you need to be logged in to download the mod

- can you control from which sites your customer is downloading the mods?

- he can download .zip / .rar file from his ftp and extract it ( viruses / trojans / RAT's etc..)

 

overall, nice idea with few flaws.

While we are in beta you can install v2 on the same server where v1 is installed and use your v1 key.

Too much of a security risk downloading mod files directly from a websource. This would open your sytem up to be exploited within minutes.
